gear ratios
just looked because i was curious and my truck has 3.55 gear ratios. can someone explain what this means like power, top speed, towing, or whatever? is it good or bad?
3.55 is a good all around gear, the higher the number the lower the gear, so 4.10 would be lower. If you did a lot of heavy towing you might want a lower gear for more power to get moving, Just an example if you're turning 2100 rpm's at 65 and you go to 4.10's you might go up to 2400 at 65.
ok so higher the number, lower the gear? so if its higher rpms to get going for lower gearing then does that mean 3.55 would get better mileage than say 4.10? since its running at a lower rpm?
