Windshield replacement
I am considering buying a 96 powerstroke from my neighbor and it's windshield has about 3 cracks in the bottom half going all the way from the driver to the passenger side. I would like to replace it myself because I enjoy small projects like this. Does anyone know where I can buy a new one online? Does anyone know what kind of glue I need? How long it takes to replace and how to remove the old one without a glass shower? Step-by-step instructions? All help is appreciated!! Thanks in advance bombers!!!
+1; windshield is not a "small project". And they're cheap on our trucks, compared to other vehicles. Safelite did ours for $200-ish, right in our driveway, lifetime warranty. They even cleaned up some rust on the mounting flange on the cab.
I got a buddy that runs an auto glass shop and he put in a brand new windshield into my brothers truck for $150-$200(Which included the windshield and installation). I just got done looking around and the cheapest one I found was 113.35 if I installed it WITH me hauling it home and hoping I dont hit a hard bump on the way home and break it, or213.35 if they bring it to me and isntall it at my home. I think I will wind up spending the extra $50 and take it to my buddy at the glass shop unless I can get one for cheap at the junkyard. Btw, does the 90/91 (Flat front) Ford windshields fit the OBS 92-97 bodystyles?
I'd recommend getting someone else to do it, they have specialized tools to line it up and they will cover it if they just happen to drop your new windshield and shatter it haha..
MY cousin does it for cheap but I am sure you don't like in georgia.
