Sorry I know this is really old, but figured I'd answer anyways.

A FASS pump is just an aftermarket heavy duty diesel pump. It stands for FUEL AIR SEPARATION SYSTEM. They were the first pumps used on the vegistrokes and I'll tell you from past experience, they are just not up to the demand of pumping hot WVO. They'll last a while, but there are better options, IMO.

On a 7.3 and 6.0 powerstroke fuel is fed into the heads at one end and it's "closed" off at the back. So it's just like a rail feeding the heads, plugged at one end and fuel fed in from the other. When you install a regulated return they allow fuel to go all the way through the head and then regulated on the backside, where they send excess back to the tank. My vegistroke system feeds in the back of the head and uses check valves, so a regulated return is not easily added, but I don't see the need for it. A RR is a good idea on a truck that needs a large volume of fuel (think big injectors). It is a better way to regulate the fuel pressure at the injectors for sure.
