Yeah, you don't have to worry about me staying away from that... I'm on the opposite end of the country, and from the sounds of it have a much better grasp on turning wrenches and understanding WVO systems than "Joel".

I think you need a business liscense to report your taxes. I sell a small amount of pens and laser work on my local Navy Base ( about $200) a month and even though I do not collect taxes I still have to report the income. My friend started to paint cars in his garage and one night he had an accident and the next morning the country was banging on his door. Doing shade tree work on a vehicle is no big deal. If this guy in installing a product on your truck he SHOULD have a business license AND and tax I.D. number displayed in plain sight if your paying him. Did he give your some type of warranty?

I'd stay away from frybrid personally, but I guess I'm "biased" since I'm an avid vegistroke user. Installed several vegistrokes on 7.3's and 6.0's and a vegi-ram on a commonrail as well.
frybrid as in the company right? I googled it because i didnt know the term.

In California all mechanics need to be a menber of the Automotive Bureau repair of California. Check out their web site Bureau of Automotive Repair, State of California, Dept. of Consumer Affairs . He should also have a current business license from the city of Ojai Or Ventura. If he is selling Systems and oil he also needs to have a state resale License to collect sales taxes for the state. # California State Board of Equalization . maybe some specail permits to store bulk oil. Sounds like this guy needs a visit from some state and city officals to straighten him up.

Correct. Their customer service is more or less non existent. Go on their forums... guys are still waiting for parts they paid for MONTHS ago.

No warranty and the system sucks ! the truck dies at half a tank so I think he put a used tank on and the pick up tube rusted off or something ! now I have to cut into the tank to see if it has baffles and why the truck dies at half a tank of oil and only on oil !

I have been putting a system together, purchasing parts from different sources. I have 3 electronic solenoids to switch the fuel return and everything. I bought a computerized controller off E-Pay I think it was Plant driven which comes from out of the country. It arrived and had everything... but I am still not running my truck. I bought a 30 plate FPHE (flat plate heat exchanger) and an building a HIH heater system (Hose in Hose) there is an aluminum tube that the WVO flows through and coolant flows around it through a heater hose. The Hot Fox heater pickup is good, and I will be using it.

I used the Frybrid forum for ideas on how to lay everything out, what works and what does not. You do not want to use copper it will cause polymerization, brass is not as bad but still not a good idea. Some of the kits use pex lines instead of heater hose... seems like a bad idea. The chemistry in coolant and Pex is similar I can imagine that will only lead to problems later.

The system I am designing will be integrated into the alarm and everything so I will be able to take the keys out, the alarm will leave the truck on for a while to cool down the turbo, and the WVO system will be automatically switched to purge the WVO out of the lines. Maybe a bit of overkill but with the alarm and the controller it is just a matter of a few wires and propper programming.

Good luck on your project!

Sounds good 1939Dodge, keep us posted. Your concerns of PEX, I agree with. I am also converting my vegistroke to HIH very soon.

This is funny, I just noticed that the OP posted this message in April, and has never been back, not even logged on since. Well at least we can vent and post our thougths to each other

Since the OP appears to not be coming back, I will post a question I have as many of you are running WVO already.

Have you seen any issues with modified bombed engines and WVO? What upgrades are not compatable with WVO? I am looking to build 500-800 HP... bad idea?

Mdub707, yeah, it really sucks, I have all of the special tools, fittings and everything for Wirsbo Pex... the best system for PEX but can not use it on my truck. Take a look at Frybrid forums for some good HIH (actually aluminum tube in hose) systems and end fittings. I designed one out of billet aluminum, but no one wanted one. I also bought a bunch of extra fittings to build the systems, PM me if you want to trade for some good supplies for your HIH I have all the brass barbs, hose and aluminum tube for 10 setups... I only have one truck

I see no issues running WVO for high HP applications. The dyno run's I've seen from others show only a minimal loss in HP vs #2.

The only issues would be from the WVO itself, just needs to be clean, water free, and heated to keep viscosity down. Other than that, I can't think of anything that would really hinder performance. I know some of the diesel rails were being run on bio.

My truck should be close to a solid 400 at the wheels with WVO. I'd think 420-430 on #2.

I'm on the BFT forum, obviously. I poked around on Frybrid's site but ultimately decided they didn't really have any more info for me than the site I'm on now, especially since some of the older members are also on Frybrid, so the information flows back and forth. I'd be interested to see some pics of your TIH connections.
