Over here diesel is 1.359€ per liter multiplied by 3.78 to get a gallon it's 5.13€ per gallon. Now add the exchange rate on it with 1.36$ per Euro. So we pay a whopping 6.97$ per gallon.

And people still don't care about bio. So europe is ignorant too? Do you really think it would be different in the US?
No, it's not. You will get rid of your guzzlers, but you won't change driving style.

Woohoo, I could save 20 cents on 7(!) $...

We can make Bio for about $2.00 per gallon......so yes, it is worth it if you want to devote the time to make it.......it can easily be done.......if you don't want to make it fine.......However, why discourage someone from making it when it is cost effective? I guess you have to forgive our desire to be independent. I would think being able to save $5.00 per gallon would be worth it. I could care less about what Bosch allows......they don't warranty my engine. Those that do allow up to B20. Every 2nd car diesel? You may have a higher percent than we do, but I have a good friend in Germany, and she pulls horses......she can afford anything she wants......she nor any of friends or family drive diesels.

Often here in the states you can get used fryer oil for free, so the only cost you have to make bio is the initial cost of the set up & the cost of the chemicals. Without factoring in the cost of the set up, as they can be EXTREMLY Expensive for a fancy prebuilt kit to fairly cheap to piece on together.

The chemicals added end up making the bio cost around $.10-$.15 a gallon for bio-fuel.

I'm not getting into the argument of bio in dodge, but right in the owner's manual it states 5% Bio is legit and okay. A TSB came out after the owner's manuals being printed and you can run B20 in a dodge, just like GM's who also use Bosch pumps.

You do have commercial units that are outrageously priced, or you can make your own for very little money.

"Girl Marks" book will show you how. She apparently developed the "appleseed processor. She also shows you how to make a processor with 55 gal. drums.

from what little research i have done be real careful on building and operating a appleseed or other homemade unit. I know there are plenty of well designed homemade unit but there has also been a lot of people that didnt do it right and the are hurting for it now.
i am also looking into bio because if i can save anywhere between 1-2.5 dollars a gallon that would be awsome and help me a lot

how someone could say that it is not worth it to make bio diesel... its beyond me the only things i have heard is with some of the new trucks you have to do some mods but with the older trucks mostly the ones with machanical pumps you have to do no mods, its suposed to be a pour in and go fuel, i also have freinds who run both biodiesel and #2 diesel together mixed in the tank and havent had any problems. now on the down side the biodiesel makers run anywhere from 1500 - 6000 + dollars depending on size and all and being able to get the oil can be a trick but if you can get the oil for free or cheap i know people making it for .70 cents a gallon which would pay for itself in a year if you drive your truck normally, where i live now diesel is 3.40 a gallon so we are talking about almost a 5:1 ratio. if you are wanting to make your own thats not for me so goodluck to you i would buy one first cause i wouldnt trust myself but i do know if you were just wanting to try it you can get a kit for 400 that makes 4 gallons at a time i will find the link and post it in here. i hope i was of help to you.

Bio-diesel offers some benefits for engine, they has higher cetane means that easier starting for diesel engines, bio-diesel has low sulfur which makes easy to incorporate into fuel system. As compared to hydrocarbon combustion, bio-diesel combustion results in lower and cleaner emissions.
