bio will be bad if you don't prepare the engine for it.
The engine has to be "adjusted".
That means injection has to be advanced a bit due to the delay in burning fuel.
You also have to think about a dual fuel tank solution, a bio fuel heater and most important a strong lift pump to support the IP to prevent a burned up IP.
Hpoe that helps more than a link.

No, even if you have an electronic controlled injection. Base adjustment is done mechanically. Adjustment procedure depends on Injection pump and model.

Most noobs think they can get away without a stronger lift pump. As a result the forums are full of burned up IP threads.
Viscosity of bio fuel is the cause for the burning delay.

You are thinking o "Friybird" technology burning staright veggie oil.......not biodiesel you make.........most you will need are a few fuel filters to use as replacements as your engine is "cleaned" out.

I know "Frybrid"- don't like them either.
100% Bio diesel is available over here at nearly every gas station. Called RME. 5 cents cheaper...
This stuff is aggressive to hoses and sealings. It is also mixed into our regular diesel in volumes up to 7% ( B7) by law.
Knowing this and having the choice of 4 different diesel fuels in germany at the fuel station like:
Standard (51 to 55 cetane no. depending on brand),
Ultimate(GTL 60 cetane no.),
Fuel saver(51 cetane no.)
Biodiesel(51 cetane no.)

So the thought of making your own fuel is getting tired and pretty useless...
Comparing the costs of fabricating bio against getting diesel from the fuel station I can still go many, many miles before having to think about it.
Thankfully the use of bio is prohibited by Chrysler, so I even don't have to think about it.
We deal with that bio crap since the mid 90's- still not that many use it. Only extrem savers do.
"Are you getting bio?" is a common joke if you are kinda lame?

Actually, you are showing your ignorance concerning Bio. Chrysler actually allows you to burn up to B20 (20% bio) under warranty. Biodiesel is very feasible to produce and run. Seals and hoses are only a concern for early model trucks. We can purchase from B5 to B99, but is more expensive than # 2 diesel. So in essence, keep quite about subjects you are ignorant about. The cost savings of Bio can be great, especially when # 2 gets in the $4.00 to 4$.50 range

So you have the experience?
As a Diesel fan you should do your homework. Bosch still does not allow the use of Bio in their pumps.
Calling me ignorant? I live in a country where every second car is a diesel. You barely have 3%
And nope bio is not allowed for my Jeep.
So you are involved in agriculture? Only 2% of the overall consumption is covered with bio. The government wanted more bio- it's simply not possible.
Expanding bio would drive the cost for food into the sky. Just have a look into countries were palm oil is produced. Food prices are sky rocketing now.
Guess I know who is ignorant...

No I don't call it irgorant, I simply do not care about a dead born child.
