Default #1 Diesel and precautions to take?

is there any negatives to running #1 fuel in these newer common rails other than the lower lubricity of the #1? i work in North Dakota so it's a bit cold and alot of stations aren't even selling #2 right now so i just thought i'd ask if there are any known negatives to running it

I would assume that if the station is selling it it has to reach the same sulfur standards as the #2.. 500ppm maximum, and as I recall, the sulfur standard determines the lubricity content, so it should be the same. Seems logical anyways

well the sulfur content is now 15ppm maximum everywhere, but other than that you're correct, think i'm gonna stay on the side of caution and just throw some 2 stroke in it, whether it does anything or not i don't know, but we'll find out

I've heard #1 is fine as long as the temps are way cold. Otherwise it burns too hot I guess. Hell I just run what the station sells me hahaha.

#1 is a little more viscous than kero. That's the only difference between #1 and #2. #2 gets too viscous in the cold compared to #1. #1 will gel, but it'll be too friggin cold.
