To the OP. I wouldn't put ATF in a 2000. I would stick to 2 stroke oil.
Old 12v'ers will run on bout anything but water so I am not scared to recycle my waste fluids into my fuel tank. My $.02.

Anecdotes are worthless. You have not given any useful information to differentiate their individual situations (ie, I don't know if your "uncle" and "friend" live in the same neighborhood or even in the same country).

Actually, you had a choice and you chose the illegal route.

That is false. The only differences are the dye and taxes.

Incorrect. "Raw diesel" means fuel straight from the pump with nothing added to it by the vehicle operator.
There has never been a time when pure no-additive diesel was sold on the public market. Every gallon of fuel sold at retail pumps, including red and marine diesel, contains additives put in by the refinery to aid in meeting lubricity, cetane and flash point specs.

i told you before, same city, same driving styles only difference is one is a 5 speed and one is a 6 speed.

also you call it a placebo but you still CANT prove that putting ATF in the tank doesent help so your statement is pointless, even though i have proof through calculating my fuel milage several times with it and without it.

also i didnt have a choice it was either put farm diesel in the truck OR walk home and when your 20 miles from home i wont take that route.

also i noticed my truck seems to smoke more on farm diesel,at an idle it hazes more when i run farm diesel so i believe there is a difference.

Isn't it great to have ForcedInduction back?

Actually, "farm fuel" as you call it is the same fuel as you buy at the pump. I worked at a refinery and know this to be true. Not trying to argue but the fact is that the dye is the only difference between the two.

I wish I had cops like you guys. I've been pulled over twice because they wanted to dip my tank, as they put it "being a younger guy, lifted truck with performance modifications, you fit the profile of someone that would take the chances and run off-road diesel in an on-road truck" The cop was wrong though PERFORMANCE MODS include, a programmer, aftermarket intake, injectors, etc. A 4" straightpipe and a 6" lift are not performance modifications. Lol.

Just an fyi, red diesel has more ppm then LSD or ULSD. I've read from 500-1500ppm. Not only is it not taxed for on road use, its also offroad because of the content.

Bonus question, what's blue diesel primarily used for? Respect for correct answer.

Edit: however, what happens at the refinery is about the most accurate. hence why ill never buy 93 octane gasoline. Talk to too many fuel delivery drivers.

ALL fuel per EPA is 15ppm, at one time that statment was true but the switch has been made. Blue is for boats if I remember correctly.

Blue is government-use. And interesting to know they're all 15ppm

Also, rural areas have until december of this year to comply. Don't know who defines what, but I had the link around here somewhere. EPA search tools rock

Around me, and I assume it goes on every place, most people that have been dipped, don't even know it's happened. They go to places where our trucks congregate and with the aid the local authorities dip the trucks right in the parking lot. Around here they hit the livestock auctions and state fair events quite often. For the few trucks with locking gas caps, they wait by the exit with a list of license plates and stop those trucks before they leave.
