I recently purchased a 3.0Lt TD Isuzu Wizard with about 140k-One of the injectors blew either blocked or something, I had a mechanic fit in a "new injector''

Our diesel in Mozambique is poor!

Could it be the diesel that caused the problem?

Will ATF oil added to the fuel really do any good?

You just need a really good small micron filtration system and a good water seperator. Preferably in your case, maybe two seperate units. But racor makes some good combos. I dont think in any case ATF will benefit you but for added lubricity possibly some tc-w3 rated two stroke/two cycle oil added per tank will help. I dont know how bad the diesel is there but filtering and dewatering will be your best help! Do you have access to additives or can you order them in somewhat cheaply?

Thanks wreckinball,

I could get additives from South Africa, question is what kind? (brand-make, etc...)
Most mechanics here speak against them, most common answer is that it causes greater wear and tear on your injectors. That's what I'm trying to avoid that.
I will give the 2 stroke oil a shot and see what the results are.

The engine shakes a little after the injector was replaced, it never use-to before, you could place a full glass of water on the engine while on idle and it would not spill.
If there is any improvement with the 2 stroke I will stick to it.

Should I look out for any specific 2-stroke or are they all the same? (tc-w3)

Thanks again for the info.

i have no idea on which brands you have access to but power service and howes are good brands. I cant and wont recommend ATF in a tank but it can and will scrub out an injection system pretty good. I am not 100% with your system but if it was all original, the injector could have simply failed. See if you can find some of the brands of additives and let us know. There is bound to be one or two good ones. Anything that can help lubricate is a good thing but then again, how regulated is your diesel? Is it low sulfur, ultra low sulfur or just some good old diesel like we used to have in the states.

I have no clue about the sulfur in the diesel here, what I can say is that every time I fill her up it foams-up and you have to wait for it to settle before you can top it up. I was told that's a sign of poor quality diesel.
I also recall back when operating my twin volvo penta's (boat) I had water separator filters that required some purging quite frequently.

Will the 2 stroke oil make up some way for the bad quality of fuel.

I am going to give it a go.

2Stroke wont supplement the quality of diesel per se, but it will add lubrication to the system. I am betting that the foaming isnt too much of a sign of poor fuel because all of the fuel here i have used does it but then again my filler neck is restricted being that it is a gasser neck. So that could be it or the vent for the tank is clogged in your system. Any additive that will help seperate the water from fuel and provides a good filtration will help but the quality of fuel is very important.

Thanks!
I looked under the car today to check out the fuel tank and if there was any practical way I could drain my fuel and check for any signs of water. Looks a little more complicated than what I thought, there are plenty bolts that run along the side of the tank which means I need to remove the whole thing. (job for a mechanic)
Next time I replace my deisel filter I will look for a water separator filter. The Diesel filter sits below the passenger seat area. I think these vehicles have two diesel filters, not sure though.
If you know anyone out there that may know a thing or two on the Isuzu 2000 I would really appreciate it.
Again, thanks a bunch for all your input.
Cheers from Mozambique.

The two stroke "should" lube the system, it is and always has been designed to burn AND lubricate. I dont think it will lube better than power service or stanadyne lubricity or similar. What i do know is that this is by far one of the hottest arguments on every diesel forum haha.

Hey CleanDieZel,

stay away from additives- I'm in africa right now and I know what you are talkin' about.

It is the poor diesel causing you trouble. The injectors get clogged from the bad diesel quality- just had to rebuild our diesel generator...

Use fresh fuel filters, change often! It might be adviseable to mount a prefilter with a mesh (the ones for the motorcycles) to get rid of the main dirt in the fuel.

I have to clean the prefilter once a week.

Also get a water/fuel seperator with an indicator lamp when water is in the fuel.
Avoid lausy gas stations- they love to mix Kero into the Diesel!
