Veggie Mixture can't figure it out
I have been trying to run veggie in my mercedes 5 cyl diesel without a separate tank and for the most part it has worked out alright. But every batch is different. I heat it then filter it first thru a 50 micron then a 10 then a 1. It then goes to our holding tank then thru a water block fuel filter on our pump. Then into the stock tank in the car. I'm looking for anyone who has a constant successful mixture. I have tried kero, diesel, gas, ase additive naptha just don't know the correct amount of each for the 50 gallon batch. Even after the 1 micron filtration were still clogging filters.

The reason you are clogging filters is because you need heat. The vegetable oil is waxing up and clogging the filter. If you do have heat, there might be corrosion going on somewhere in your system. But I believe that if you are trying to push vegetable oil through the filter at air temperature, you will have trouble almost all the time.(even on a 90 degree day) I would add a vegitherm or heat exchanger somewhere before the filter. The mercedes inline 5s have pretty strong injection pumps but i might also add that an extra fuel pump out by your tank will also help to push the fuel through the filter.
Good Luck and I hope this helped some.

I can tell you what 100% veggie oilers in germany do:
- they go 100% veggie or diesel- no mixture, because it clogs.( two tanks!)
- they fire it up with pure diesel up to op temps, then they switch to veggie.
- fuel supply lines have an inside diameter of 12mm and 10mm for the return
- they use a Hardy pump to lift the veggie oil.
- they heat the veggie oil with an heat exchanger
- this can be: electric and/or coolant heater
- they always carry a spare fuel filter.
- they switch back to Diesel to flush the injection pump for a new start
- they install a vaccum meter to keep an eye on suction. suction= clogged filter
Hope that helps

I understand what you mean,
but if you do a bit research on veggie forums you will find out that most VO users avoid mixing of Diesel and veggie because it always clogs.
Most of them go by the two tank solution and always flush the system before switching back to diesel.
Adding additives or variing the mixture won't help to prevent clogging.

I know this is an older post but I'm going to put in my 2¢.
I've been running approx. 50/50 mix WVO to diesel fuel. I had a local fuel company deliver 200 gallons of off road, (for experimental purposes), and then added WVO to that. The tank is 500 gallon capacity and I installed a pump with Golden Rod filters from TSC along with a fuel hose and nozzle like is at a gas station. So far I've had pretty good results, but I've only been running this mixture during the warmer months. To keep from having to change the more expensive fuel filter, I have installed cheaper, clear plastic inline filters before the main filter. It's a lot cheaper and easier to change those then either the spin on like I have on my '85 GMC K2500 or the "box" style that are on my Olds diesel engines.
I did bubble wash the WVO before it went into the storage tank. IMHO I think that helped a lot. Eventually I want to get a centrifuge but for now I simply cycle the WVO thru my bubble washer.
Hope this helps.
