Been running 15-40 RP or Amsoil, which ever was handy, until I couldn't afford it last year. So I then switched to Premium Blue, which was good until the -0 temps. Now running Delvac 1. I don't think it's a group IV, but instead a group III??

I run Amsoil 5w30 HDD year round with out problems and know of a few guys who run this oil in So Cal year round and they don't have stock engines. One thing to many need to know is your oils flow temps, ie the lowest temp that your oil will still flow in your engine. We all know that the lack of oil flow on cold start up is one of the hardest things on any engine. The easy was to know your oils flow temp with out asking the manufacture is to subtract 25 degrees ( some tell me 30 degrees) from the oils pour point. Thus if your oil has a pour point of -30 its flow point temp is -5 degrees. The number I use for oil flow is only good for high quality oil and not the cheap no name oil you see at the 99 cent store. Also I don't know if the oil flow numbers will work with Walmart brand oil.
