To answer the question posted, I run Amsoil HDD 5W30. Had excellent results with the Esso XD3 0W40 as well.
I went back to Delo. Had some poor results with the top two brands, and Delo was the only oil so far that gave me great results. I plan to pick up some Schaeffer's 9000 5W40 for the winter as well.

Ever cut any oil filters open? All oil filters are NOT created equal - they ALL look virtually the same on the outside, but its whats on the inside that counts. On my Cummins, oil pressure can spike to close to 100 psi. $5 compared to the price of an engine is a BARGAIN.

I wouldnt put a Fram filter on my truck if they were free. JMO.

Do you run the syn 0w40 year round? Cause I've only been using Rotella 15w40(non syn) all yr but have usually run a company truck in the winters till just recently and starting to notice the lag the 15w40 has on my poor truck in the -40c and -50c temps here.

I can get the Exxon products super cheap so that would be perfect for me cause my buddy orders tons of bulk from them.

I also just posted about the Fram filters too, which I've been using, I havent had any problems yet but I do change my oil quite frequently.

I have to change my oil right away and wondering what I should be using for now on. I know I can get wix and motorcraft filters from a place in town but not too sure about fleetguard.
Also I switch over to Synthetic oil is it enough if I just let the previous oil drain out a little extra longer and just put the new stuff right in, or do I need to do some sort of flush?

The flush is not necessary unless you have hight miles and want to go right to extended drain intervals...15K+. If you want to continue changing fairly regularly then the flush is unnecessary. The products mix fine.

I have ran the 0W40 in the summer - and I really feel that its a bit too light for proper lubrication (I may be wrong though). I have a mechanical oil pressure guage and the pressure does dip lower than with 15W40 oils. The biggest issue I had with running different weights of oils in the winter and summer - is I dont drive enough and I hated to dump perfectly good synthetic oil just because summer was coming. Last fall I switched to Amsoil 15W40 HD Marine (even though its a 15W40 it has a pour point like a a 0W40) . The Amsoil made sense to me because I can run it year round and change it once a year or less.

My driving interval is such that I can run 0W-40 in the winter and 15W40 for summer.
I do an oilchange in April and one late September.
I Use Petro Canada 0W-40 Full Syn for winter and Amsoil 15W40 for Summer.
For an oil filter I use a Napa Gold/ Wix filter.
This is my first full year with this truck so I will go full amsoil staring in the spring, including theoil filter

So with the full synthetic, do you go longer between oil changes?
