Here is something that was passed down to me from another forum alerting me to gelling issues...

Same here.. I tried the Cetane boost. I didn't see any improvement.
After reading Mopar1973man's paper on the additives, I've only run 2 cycle year round.

Power Service hasn't done much for me (-25 in December and gelled using recommended dose) Howes seems to work good for me. Put it in the next tank, -25, she fired up like a pro. Best solution is 1/2 #1 plus Howes. Fuel mileage sucks with the 1/2 #1.

Blended fuel here in the winter and it's been good to me all the way down to -30. Last winter I tried some stuff that was called "Polar Express" and all the farmers in the area swear by it, it seemed good to me. I don't know much about it but I was told to add only a couple ounces per full tank.

hey nccummins, I do the same thing you do about 3-4 a year. North Carolina to Maine. I was just up there 2 weeks ago at my hometown in the mountains. Dropped down to -10 F, I use Power Service's and/or 2 stroke oil and have never had any problems. Maine does treat their diesel with some serious anti-gelling additives from what I've been told. I know I ran a couple tank fulls with no treatment or 2 stroke while I was up there and had no issues.

I run a mix of power service and cenex 2 cycle, my lift pump sure likes the 2cycle noted by how it quieted down after the add.

I've been down to -20*F without a single problem...

I'm not worried...
You left out some important information like the diesel fuel you buy is already winterized for below zero temps and that most likely has more to do with your fuel not gelling in the winter then a few ounces of 2 cycle oil you add to your tank! BTW, if 2 cycle oil is such an great anti gel why is it not labeled and sold as and anti gel additive? One other thing there are a few post on the internet of guys who had used 2 cycle oil in there fuel yet it still gelled on them and we all know its not an easy job to thaw out diesel fuel in below zero temps.
