Try some Acetone and 1 quart Turpentine for Cetane.

Id say throw a litre or two of 2 stroke in every fillup. Welcome BTW :c: :c: |
Amsoil diesel concentrate and diesel concentrate with cold flow improver in the colder months. Also amsoil cetane boost with every tank.

Yes 2 stroke is good no carbon.I use 3 oz. acetone per 10 gals to give 2 mpg more.I use turpenting to raise Cetane, and burn 100% fuel (no smoke).

We keep Powerservice 911 on hand just in case but use Howes every fillup in the winter and every other fill up in other season.

Additives
As far as fuel additives, I was taught in school by techs in the heavy duty diesel industry not to use any!! My instructors laugh and say, "what a waste of money", I'm on east cost where weather conditions vary, but they say fuel companies already put what is needed in the fuels according to your location. Then again we learn on million mile engines, not our little pickup hot rods!! LOL :rocking: My father isn't much of a believer and never ran any additives, now I bought his truck has 91,000 miles 24v and runs t*ts!! Past 2 years I have been using PS. (Power Service), and I NEVER had any problems, minor mpg increase with summer blend only!! During cold seasons it is a giving your mpg will decrease b.c of the cetain levels in fuel. Some fleet services example. Uhaul it is a must in fuel additives. What I think it comes down to is personal preference. We did some minor test at school E.C.T.I and seems that all additives did was decrease mpg by raising cetain levels. :argh:

DonnyK,
I was told today that heavy duty diesel engines are not HPCR so that lack of lube from ULSD will not affect heavy duty diesel injectors like it does to our high pressure injectors we have in our 5.9L engine. Whats your thoughts true or not? |
