Default SVO/WVO kits

Hey alt-peeps,

I'm gonna be gettin' an SVO/WVO kit here in the very near future.

Can someone with direct experience with one of these kits please post their review.

I have been using this kit for 3 years. It is the best kit I have found so far, and can process waste oil-based fuels at up to 20 gallons per minute.

Hey cool, thanks for introducing me to a new system I've never heard of in all my research thus far. Does it a require a heating element?

You are welcome. No heating element is included with the filter manifold, but if you are planning on processing fuel that is not liquid at ambient temperatures, then you will need to heat it up. Maximum temperature of the filter manifold is 150F (65c).

If you are planning on using the filter manifold for filtering blends of solvents with waste oils, then you will want to remove the thick or waxed fuels from the thin liquid blend prior to filtering. That separation typically happens in a vertical settling tank with a drain valve to drain off the thick or waxed oils.

A filter element that small would clog up in no time, unless you are filtering waste oils that are already clean. While I agree that waste oils can, and should, be cleaned using settling, then blending, then settling again before filtering. One filter in my filter manifold is 4 times the size of the one in the video demo, and my filter manifold has 2 such filters, plus a pre-filter. How much are they selling their filter unit for?

Basic Rundown and Specs:
- 12V System allows for convenience and portability
- 3-Way Ball Valve allows you to switch between pumping/filtering and just pumping
- Up to 1.5 GPM Filtering/3.5GPM Pumping without Filter
- 3.5GPM Gear Pump with 40 minute duty cycle
- Utilizes Replaceable Racor 2020SM (2 micron) or 2020TM (10 micron) Aquabloc Elements to help filter out excess moisture
- Total Dry weight is 45lbs with dimensions 27” H x 19.7” W x 11.7” D
This self-contained filtering/pumping unit is equipped with a rugged gear pump that pulls the fuel through a GFS 1000 filter. Pulling fuel through the filter instead of pushing ensures that the filter element stays structurally sound. This also keeps water from becoming emulsified through the internals of the pump.
The Replaceable Filter element is a Racor Aquabloc 2020SM (2 micron) or 2020TM (10 micron) which has 1,484 sq. inches of surface area. To put that in perspective, our large pre-filter bag has 625 sq. inches of surface area without water separation capabilities. This is a 12V system which allows it to run off of your vehicle’s battery or a stand alone battery. This filter shines on the road, but can be equally useful for home applications, as well.
This filter is intended for warm oil filtration. Optimal oil temperature for filtration is between 80-120 degrees. Filtering directly through the One Shot in the warmer months is possible, so it’s a great addition for long summer road trips. In the winter months, the oil will have to be warmed up either with electric heat or coolant heat.
We have tested this filter extensively at the shop, at our homes and on the road. Charlie traveled with a 2000 Ford Excursion and 36 foot travel trailer from Missouri to New York, up into Maine, through the Canadian Atlantic Provinces, across the top of the Great Lakes and then back down into the states and home again. He traveled 6,000 miles in all, averaging 10 mpg in the Excursion and using nothing but the One Shot filter system to provide fuel for the trip. He averaged about 70 gallons of oil through each filter element. 200 gallons was the most out of a filter element and about 10 gallons was the least.
What this filter is NOT
Although this filter works great when used as intended, it is not magic. It does have limitations and the principals of picking good oil as shown in the Liquid Gold DVD still apply. The One Shot can’t pump water and dirt with a little oil mixed in and produce perfect fuel. Oil that is very dirty or has fatty deposits in it will clog a filter quickly. Remember filtration is an equation; Surface Area vs. Gunk. When the filter is coated with dirt, moisture and fatty deposits, the flow will diminish. However, even if you were to pump dirty oil through and get 10 gallons per element, you would only be spending $1.50 per gallon, half of the cost of diesel.
We currently only offer our units in black. They come configured with a top load filter configuration now for easier access when changing out filter media. The older style unit had a hinge on the filter giving it a swing out configuration (pictured below).

90 day limited warranty on pump, 1 year warranty on all other non-electrical components including hoses, brass components, filter body, and case

It sounds like you are interested in an SVO system. I am a blender. Blends work on any diesel engine, because the engine does not have to be modified, just the fuel.

I know what WVO is ... and of course WMO ... I fiter mine to 5 mic, and blend it with fuel .. 50/50 in summer and 15% in winter .. Cummins 12V
