Default 01 chip options

okay so my mom and step dad bought a powerstroke back at the beginning of the year. since then i got my cummins and i let my mom drive it after i got the chip on and she fell in love with the increased power so now they want a chip for the stroker. what they need is just something little for towing a horse trailer, and something cheap that wont require any other modifications such as exhaust and intake etc because they dont want to spend a lot of money. the truck is basically bone stock right now, only upgrade on it that i know of is the clutch, which from driving i kinda think it's a dual disk, not completely sure cause i don't know strokers that well from the couple i test drove before i got my cummins.

so i need suggestions on a small maybe like 65hp chip or smaller that will cheap to buy and shouldn't require them to go all out on other parts like the exhaust or gauges or intakes etc. i don't know a whole lot about strokers as far as what they can handle with mostly stock parts. i know gauges are typically a must for any truck but they dont want to spend the money so suggestions please and thank you

with any chip your going to want at least a pyro. and if all they are wanting is a little extra power then somthing like an edge will work fine.

Call up Power Hungry Performance and get a tune from them, be it a single flash on the PCM or a Edge unit with there tunes on it.

I would still recomend at least a pyro.

Yeah I keep telling them they need to get a pyro but they don't want one so I guess until they decide to get a pyro with a chip ill tell them to hold off. I know my truck doesn't get too hot with even my stock 3 inch on with no muffler but I know their stroker doesn't spool very quickly atleast it doesn't feel like it so I assumed egts would be an issue with even a small chip. Thanks for the info guys!

Take a look at some of our tunes. We can put together a light to moderate chip that will be fine with out gauges. They will just need to make sure that they turn it to the correct tow tune when towing. We normally always recomend gauges, but I'm confident we can still put something together for them.

Powerstrokes hold egt's MUCH better than cummins do. I know many people with tuner/intake/exhaust/sticks that wont go ANY higher than 1250* pyro EVER. Thats much more than I can say for any modded cummins I've seen.
Get custom tunes like TW, intake, and at least a straight pipe. Great mileage and tons of power.
