long lead no long lead injectors??
#2
Long lead has a blue plug on the injector head, is normally only in the #8 hole and I think they are AE series.
Idea was, #6 fires right before #8, and #8 was starving for fuel, and clattering.
"long lead" means the injector stays open a fraction longer, giving it a better chance to fill with fuel, and run quieter and smoother. Ford claims it was for customer satisfaction only, and didn't affect emissions or longevity of the engine when they swapped out the #8 for the AE longlead.
When I put my regulated return on, they said I should go to all AD's or upgrade, since all 8 injectors now got proper fuel supply.

If you are doing aftermarket don't bother messing with the long lead.
The long lead AE injector doesn't stay on longer. That would be a function of the PCM not the injector as the PCM is what controlls on time. The piston has a little different cut in it which changes the amount of fuel in the pilot shot. The issue wasn't a fuel issue but an oil depleation issue. As the #6 injector operated and depleated the localized pressure in the head then the #8 injector fired right after the theory was that the ICP was slightly lower not allowing the #8 injector to operate as well.
