Default Engine Sputter

My low mileage Ford F-350 7.3 Powerstroke occasionally sputters or dies for no reason that I can tell. I have changed fuel filter a couple of times. It always starts back up, but it kind of unnerving, especially in traffic.

How many miles are on it?
Has the CPS ever been replaced?

Default Judging from your description

I would say cps but thats not always the case. Its easy to throw that out there everytime something goes wrong but if you have changed the fuel filters I would go with that. The best part is that now the cps is only about $25 from the ford dealer. Thats a lot better then the $197 that they were. Try that and get back to us. The ideal situation would be to check the codes and see if there is a 340 or 344 in it.

Funny thing, everyones quick to blame the CPS. Check the code and get it right the first time. I thought my CPS took a dive but it was the HPOP. Wish it was CPS, about $500.00 cheaper then pump. Sixpack

I know that I need to buy a spare CPS just in case...I have a feeling that it will go out at the most inopportune time

If it's not the CPS, put it on a computer and check the oil pressure regulator. I have seen people change out 3 CPS's to find out it was not the problem.
