Is there any way to spin more rpm's on our 7.3's (and is it worth it?)
You dont upgrade the fueling system to spin a motor higher.. there's far greater advantages to it. And generally diesels can be spun much higher than stock, you just have to upgrade fueling.
Spinning more rpm would increase the hp and get you down the track faster but the torque is what gets you off the line.
Rpm=power, I dont care how you look at it. Thats why hondas can produce such hi hp numbers at 7, 8, 9k rpms+... because you wind them out and they have no choice but to produce power. (We wont get into a torque discussion with them hehe)
A diesel, such as a v8 powerstroke, is designed (and capable...) of revving much higher, and therefore producing greater hp/tq numbers at higher rpms. Inline motors, like the cummins, typically dont like revving too much. They produce more power down low naturally, but again, increasing rpm's in them increases hp/torque.
Here's a 6.4 at 5200. But they're not HEUI.
