It seems to be different on every truck...You need to take out the old downpipe, then try slipping the top half of the downpipe down in the hole. You will see exactly where you need to clearance the firewall. Then take a 2x4 and a prybar and go to town until you have made enough room for the downpipe.

you sure its the downpipe or the up pipes? just did the downpipe yesterday and its super easy, hardest part is gettin the old pos out. used an axehandle to move the firewall seam.
