Default 94 turbo down pipe

I have a 94' Ford with the 7.3 Turbo Diesel. It was one of the last ones before the powerstroke came out. It only has 185,000 so I want to keep driving it and Im looking at different ways to get more power out of it. Where can I find a larger downpipe for this truck? How hard are they to put in. I have heard that you have to some how beat the firewall back a little to get a 3" one on these trucks.

A muffler shop installed a no name brand 3" system on my 96. From turbo to tail pipe everything was a little over $400 and believe me, the new downpipe woke my truck up!
There is a little ridge on the firewall that they rolled up, but you can not notice it from the engine compartment. You have to be under the truck and look hard to see it.

It took the shop around 3 hours to install it. I get more power to the wheels, especially getting onto freeways, but my MPG's stayed at 19 to 20. I have 236,000 miles on my engine, the exhaust was the first thing that I should have ever done to that truck. Nothing else comes close to being a seat of the pants feeling worth while of a mod.

Do your exhaust, then get gauges and a chip.

you can get a down pipe from a few places on internet, the turbo system was designed and built by ats and they still offer replacement and upgrades for idi's, the ford app turbo was actually choked down on the turbo housing and down pipe and if you had the ats turbo kit it came with the larger parts. they sell it as an upgrade kit still though.
