Default MPG as related to HP/Weight Ratio...

I've always been a fan of horse power and making things run better. As a teen and in college, I was into putting high-performance, very big engines into very small cars. What I noticed as a sideline effect, was that the better something ran, the more power it had, related to it's weight, the better fuel mileage it got. I had a ten-second car that got 24 mpg on the highway. It had plenty of power and no weight to speak of...

Then I figured speed was spendy, yet doing the same with diesels adds up fast... But fun and gratifying. I tell my significant other that I'm just trying to get better mileage ( LOL!!! ).

I know with mine, when I first bought it, I wore out 3/4 ton trucks and big block gas motors didn't have the torque to pull weight and keep it going. At the time diesel was cheap. Since then, it's more than gas. When I got it, it was rated at 10-12 mpg. With some mods, I was getting around 14 mpg. Now, with more mods, I'm around 17-19 mpg.

Curious what other's with mod's are getting? And if that aligns with my theory that besides the play factor, more HP means it's easier and more efficient to get down the road...
