Assuming you have an auto, don't drive it until it's fixed, the signal goes from the VSS to the PSOM (speedo) then to the computer, and the cruise. The PSOM could be fubar, got any salvage yards near you?

The speedo gets a signal from the vehicle speed sensor on the '93 -- this signal goes thru the RABS (anti-lock brake system), to the speedo, and then to the E4OD transmission controller. I fixed mine because someone on the weekly Diesel Bombers, speedo thread, mentioned that he had no dome light in the cab. Dome light is connected to the speedo circuit fuse -- fixed that with a fuse in the #8 fuse box position. This fuse also controls the speedo memory, and if it has no power, will immediately signal the tranny controller to go into limp mode. The tranny will revert to limp mode as long as there is no 12v on that line. With my truck being also a '93 IDI, electrical problems crop up for no reason except age. The forum guy who mentioned this said that his fuse showed good, but the connection inside the fuse separated, and the fuse tested out bad. Not sure what happened to mine, but it works now, and the fuse stays good, at least until the next time -- BW
