HEAD STUDS!!!
Just wondering if installing studs is a most if I have a H&S mini max tuner with stright pipe and after market intake? I'm under the impression due to reading some traffic back n forth that its ok to run the tuner on mild, but other than that not to constantly run it on hot or wild. Now I know it def. wouldnt hurt to get new studs, but if I dont have to right now then I won't. I'm kind of trying to to my upgrades in a package deal. One set at a time, bc $$$ doent grow on trees. I'd appreciate the most honest opinion. Also will my truck blow some black smoke now?? If not how in the hell or what else do I need to do?

Rocker arms must come off and each of the 26 bolts must be pulled and reinstalled one stud at a time. If you're new at wrenching, I'd say this isn't a job for you

I could only get mine to smoke a little on the mild and wild settings. After I got my down pipe put in I changed it to Hot and it smokes every time I put my foot in it. Or if I baby it all the time like I usually do and then after a while I can barley get in it and it will roll smoke for a bit.
Far as which setting to keep it on? Well I'm going to say it depends on how you drive it. But I have only had mine for a few months. I keep mine on Hot and drive it like grandpa every where I go. I get 18-20 mpg in town and 20-24 on hwy. And Have not had a problem with it yet. Now if you drove it like you stole it yeah your prob going to start breaking stuff..

lazar smith makes a an awesome gasket called the vulcan head gasket! its made for the 6.7. thats what im running now with o rings problem solved so far so good . i blew 2 prior to that with studs. i was told by several ppl that the wastegate is kind of a bandaid. i know a guy that blew his with the setup u just stated. he said he didnt really see where it even helped. im sure when he sees this he will chime in.

I did the pipe, filter, injectors, and air dog. Two weeks later we did the studs from mighty diesel and the clutch. I left my on hot dam ever since and not once dropped it. I have a ton more mods now, twin turbos and custom 275 tune from H&S and it still is on high. I would make the studs a priority unless you have saved up to pull the head for a new gasket. We put them on at 7,500 miles and knock on wood, it has 38k miles and no problems yet, I guess we might be lucky cause I have my foot smashed to the floor every chance I get!

Woof, mine smokes like a coal train if I really step on it, many trucks I have seen do this, no apparent loss of power? smooth acceleration is unbeliiveable with no smoke? on any setting with the Black Maxx. I would guess ARP head studs are the choice of champions? I'm no stranger to wrenching, having done industrial tooling most of my adult life and the basic farm maintenance growing up. What's the time involved in swapping out the studs? any available specs sheets for torque values and the like?
