prototype head gasket installed
good luck man. no more floor jacks. they are good for lifting when your nowhere near anything that'll fall or hit ya. other than that they are unsafe and useless. if you can't use jack stand use a different lifting device. i use a cherry picker. chain hoist works too
well i learned last night, that on the motor mounts all you have to do is loosen the bolts, there is slits in the top, so if i would have done that then i probably wouldnt have hurt my hand. And a cherry picker is going to be in my near future.
i got the head back today, it pressure tested fine, but when I picked it up the guy said it was warped way bad, I asked him where and he said by #2 and #3, which happened to be where my gasket had blown, and were the pistons got nicked. He said usually on most heads, about .004" is all they have to take off, but mine they had to take off .012", so I am wondering now, if this was the reason I had the problem I did with the gasket instead, of the rings not being set right. Hopefully my pistons will be done tomorrow so I can get it back together next week before I go to work.
check out harbor freight. thats where i got mine and it has done well for me and i didn't pay a horrible price for it. i have there 2 ton folding hoist so it folds up nice and sits in the corner which is great here because i have limited space and with an extra guy or two mine could probably go in my bed easy and thats just with pulling two pins and lifting the legs up. they help quite a bit.
