Default 6.7 cummin heating up or over heating

has any body had a prob with the 6.7 heating up or overheating it started out just heating up to about 220 or so then going back to normal then when i parked noticed it was boiling out the over flow so i found out i blew the head gasket so got that fixed put studded everything head rockers had head magna fluxed no cracks put heavy valve springs and push rods ran fine for about month or 2 months and yesterday heated up to about 220 and went right back to normal this morning heading to work it heated up again to like 235 i was running like 75 mph when it did this i pushed the clutch in let it idle went right to normal i checked the over flow and its not over flowing so i dont think its head gasket agin any one have any ideas about to throw the match to it ha ha

Im dealing with that right now, about to get a geadgasket and studs... Did you do anything to your truck to reduce drive pressure? Like an external wastegate I think?

im fixing to do the turbo swap i think but no i dont have a waste gate no whats the price on the waste gates or im thinkin about putting the egr cooler back on i was reading some where where it said it kinda works as a waste gate and will releiver drive pressure and i kinda beleive it cause i had just egr block off for about 40k miles and and when i did the cooler delete lasted about 2 k and popped so i dunno im pretty sure its not popped right now cause my resivore is maintaing about the same level while when it popped it was pushing it out as soon as it happened

sounds like a thermostat to me since its not pushing any coolant I would get a 180* since your going to be changing it anyways. Thats what I am going to put on mine when I have time

also one more question for ya did you open the coolant vent when you did the egr cooler delete if not that could be your problem could have some air in the coolant system causing the temp to go up and down just a thought

ok i got the head off my 6.7 getting it milled tonight and will be installing gasket and allen bolts. i also removed the water pump and maybe something fishy going on. it looks like the fin slid back on it a little. it seems tight while i have it off cold but we are wondering if it moved when hot. i know about the waste gate theory going back thru the egr but mine has run a long time with a blocked egr. my truck just started doing this. we did find the head was out pretty good. i am looking this thing over good and will post what we find.

well wen i blocked it off i did not open the vent and i thought about that also so i bought a pressure tester and it barely even bled off maybe 2 pounds in 15 mins or so and i also while it was under pressure i loosened the vent off till the air quit coming out and tightened it back down and it started pushing it out after one drive but just a minute ago drove to the store and smelled antifreeze opened the hood and the over flow is about 2 or 3 inches from the top and some has come outbut this last time i had a place in texas do the head for me and i dunno what they did i think they screwed me

my trouble was not the themostat. i replaced it and the cap. as soon as i loosen the rad. cap the themostat will open. when you bleed pressure off you can run a good while again towing.

also i am wondering about turbo since they have water flowing thru housing
