Default 6.7 First Steps?

I am a complete newbie here and have been doing a lot of reading in the past few days about improving performance and mpg. I just recently purchased an 08 2500 4x4 with the 6.7 and 30k miles. As it sits now, it is completely stock. I am looking at the safest/cheapest ways to increase fuel economy and hp (with fuel economy being #1 priority). There is so much information out there, I am having a hard time finding the place to start. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Well, truthfully the best thing you can do for your truck would be a DPF delete. However it depends on the attitude of your dealer towards such things if you want to keep you warranty in tact. Non warranty voiding upgrades are very hard to come by. Likely the best place to start would be the air intake, you could get a programmer, yet once again that depends on what your dealership says about that.

Assuming I did want to go down the DPF delete route, what is a good place to get that kit?

Will the smarty work with an otherwise all stock truck (except the dpf delete) and be error free?
