High EGTs

a stock 6.7 during regen will run 1500* down the highway. I have seen over 2000* on both 6.7's that I have had with no problems. If you wanna keep the edge and use it as guages that is fine, but you will probably get the urge to turn it up and run it stacked with the smarty, so probably not a good idea. Some of the edges have the option in them to run stock timing or edge timing, if you have one that you can choose from then put it on stock timing. 1600* on a 6.7 is really not that hot, they run alot hotter then the 5.9s. And I am pretty sure the 4th injection cycle is only on when the truck is in regen so it can inject the extra fuel needed to do the regen.

That sounds really hot?? I have a lifted 08 on 38X15.50 with the pyro probe mouted right in the turbo flange where I would assume you would see the max temps right before the turbo wheel and running my Smarty on SW 5 I see around 900-1100 EGT in 6 gear cruising the highway around 60. The faster I "cruise" and higher the rpm the lower the temps I see...most of my back road 50 mph kinda stuff up and down hills I run in 5th and temps never exceed 900. When I hit the highway and cruise 80+ the egts drop and I use 6th gear....
Granted any pulls at WOT to 5th or 6th gear temps will jump, but I have not seen over 1200 EGT pullin WOT thru 5-6th gear to 80-90+.
Hope this helps???
