it is not just their exhaust. if you do a DPF delete and dont touch the EGR (many people do this) then you won't get codes (with the 2nd gen dpf electronics). The issue is when people do the DPF delete, EGR delete and use a tuner such as edge that does not turn EGR off. Smarty and XRT are the only ones that shut everything off hence not needing simms ect when using these tuners. by deleting the EGR and not having the electronics for the EGR (since no one make just EGR delete electronics) the only code you will get is EGR circuit voltage low.

The EGR cooler reduces EGT's enough to cause problems if it's removed from the equation, huh? That's interesting. Old common rails with the hot-side EGR didn't have that problem?

If ya'll are men, you'll install an external wastegate on the end of the EGR or EGR cooler flange instead of a plain-ole back-off plate.

And if ya'll are smart men, you'll use the stock EGR valve in that location as the actual external wastegate.

I think the only problem is when you dont "burp" the coolant system and get all of the air in the block

Yet is there any serious proven gains from removing the cooler?
