Forced induction you do realize the guy your talking to has probably built more High horsepower cummins than anyone else in this thread (maybe the forum) right? He has modified alot of parts himself. I have a great deal of respect for Mike.

Is that supposed to impress me or alter reality to suit his faulty belief?

He has modified alot of parts himself. I have a great deal of respect for Mike.
No doubt, but modifying parts doesn't mean the person understands how they work from an engineering standpoint. Anyone can modify a vehicle if they have the desire and resources.
In fact, I don't see any threads of him actually modifying parts or even doing anything original or creative.... ...unless you count "LazarSmith" "bombing" his truck for him. Bolting on premanufactured parts or sending it to a performance shop is not "modification".

that's what I thought
Or lack of.

Probably because no engineer would design something with such extremely poor fluid dynamics.

Apparently you don't realize that's an AIR intake. Criticizing that manifold based on a picture alone, just shows you sometimes speak before you think. Mike's Cummins that HE built, makes well over 800 horsepower. Yours makes how much?

Go take a look at Mike's website, and you'll see for yourself Mike is well versed in the engineering as well as fabrication end.

I agree seems to flow plenty for a 800+ hp monster

Apparently you don't realize that either.

Are you serious? The large number of tight right angles, short runners, non-tapered/bell inlets and poor utilization of space looks good to you?

Mike's Cummins that HE built, makes well over 800 horsepower.
Thats it? I've seen many with well over 1000hp that required far less "modification".

Yours makes how much?
Gee, a 3.0L short stroke high-rpm engine vs a 5.9L industrial engine, THATS a great comparison! Please, grow up.

I agree seems to flow plenty for a 800+ hp monster
So does a lightly modified stock inlet. And for a Cummins, 800hp is not "monster".

Go take a look at Mike's website
I have. Its looks like something a middle-school kid to made in computer class, and many of the page links don't even go to anything!

anyhow back on topic. I dont think this mod would be in anyway worth the trouble and/or consequences. In fact you would more than likely tear more stuff up than it would be worth for a little more wistle. I know several people that have hit the compressor wheel with the drill while removing the silencer ring not a good mod.

What consequences? You remove two hoses, undo a clamp, drive out a roll pin, remove the ring and reassemble. If you can change oil, removing the silencer is less challenging and risky. Holset even includes an alignment pin on the housing so you can't put it back together wrong!
