How are programers/chips makeing hp?
How are they makeing hp? Pressure, fuel, timing. How much pressure is ok? How much timing is ok?
Just trying to figure out what to get for my chassis cab.
Edge doesn't work.
Bully dog?
Super chips?
Hypertech?
PPE?
Quad?

Any combination of all those you listed. I recomend the Smarty. It will let you chose how much timing, pressure, ect you feel comfortable with. Also it wont leave any foot prints on your ECM for when you need warrenty work done.
Best Programmer for the 03-07 Cummins is Smarty.... But there still working on the Smarty for the 6.7L and no one knows when it will be released. Ive had some good luck with the TS MP8 and Edge Juice with Attitude for the 6.7L.
They make more power by:
1. Increase the fuel pump pressure
2. The amount of fuel sprayed.
3. Duration of fueling. Which is the timing issue that Smarty programmer has resolved properly.
4. Fooling the turbo's boost PSI pressure which is programmed in ECM set up, so turbo's waste gate does not open per factory's setup. That is how the boost keeps on getting higher. And therefore, your power increases.
In Diesel engines, in order to create more power, you have to provide enough air for the amount of fuel sprayed. That is the reason some go with twin turbos, bigger injectors, and a programmer like Smarty to take care of everything else.
Hope that this help you out.

I would wait for the smarty but like Luke said, who knows when it will be released. I have emailed Marco and Bob a ton to try to get on the beta testing cause of the 6.7 we are currently building.
Most power adders
change the duration of fuel spray
some increase fuel pressure in the rail
change timing
depends on what you are looking for as to what power adder you are wanting. with the 6.7, you want something that is going to clear codes on start up with the DPF delete and EGR delete we have been talking about.

Smarty: They do not allow any beta testing. But they have been doing the road test. I have asked them to perform the beta test for them, but they are very carefull about it.
Which I agree with them. If I do a beta test and something goes bad, it will takes days till they can help me out.

IS the PPE any good?
