Very easy to install. If you can install software on your pc, you can install this.

 

I live outside of any DEQ check areas, (not far from you) and since my rating is above 8500 lbs, I thought it was legal to install a tuner. Am I wrong about that? I thought if you were outside DEQ then you can live full soot without worry! I mean I am not going to make a change that is going to make me nervous that Johnny law is going to pull me over.

 

You can install the tuner and run it without doing the deletes. The problem is that it is "federally" (EPA) illegal to remove emission control devices on any motor vehicle driven on any public road or highway. As far as I know, there are no EPA cops pulling people over and giving citations. There have been some local shops that got shut down, fined, and customer records seized, but no customers fined. There's just so many people removing these crap emission control devices. H&S got completely shut down i think because they made it real easy to delete.

 

I guess it would be like removing the cat from your wife's car because it was partly plugged and causing poor mpg. And the cost to replace it is ridicules.
But then when you try to sell it, the buyer cannot get it through DEQ because of the missing cat.

I guess it comes down to ethics. If you want better mpg and an overall better running truck, it will be at the expense of your contribution of a little extra soot into the atmosphere. There's a shop in Happy Valley that advertises on cl for doing the deletes. He's not afraid, but he does charge a good dollar for it.

 

Like I said, I can help with installing and setting up your tuner, but I don't really want to do your deletes.

 

anybody lingering on this thread? I have the H&S minimaxx installed on my truck with full deletes, 5" stainless TBE. I'm going to do other safety things of course like head studs. but what i'm going to inquire about now, sometime I would like to do a cam upgrade and at that point I will want to do custom tunes. I have had absolutely terrible luck finding anything about companies that will do custom tunes for the minimaxx in the cummins. I've found the MCC unlock code for sale, but nothing for a custom tune at all. anyone have any information about this?
