Lightning bolt on dash need some help
Hey guys new to the forum and need some info here. I have 2008 ram 2500 6.7. Everything was all good and then I hooked my 4 Hella lights up and when I turned the truck on the lightening bolt came on and the check guage light. It cranked fine and we went to a school function, cranked again, went thru a drive thru and I turned the truck off and then it wouldn't crank. Battery dead in the drive thu. About 3 hours between install completion and truck dying. I didn't even turn the lights on other than checking that they work. One code was p2503 the other was po63d. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I have the same problem with my truck a month ago, I leave work and the lightning bolt came on and my charging gauge was low. First I was thinking that my alternator was dead but after some troubleshooting I figure out that it have corrosion built up on the terminal attach on the wire coming from the alternator, I clean it and everything was fine after. Check you battery terminal and your ground, maybe the extra power you need for your lights make that problem happen because of a bad connection on your charging system. Best of luck.

I've had multiple times this happened just after I changed my batteries. The connections to the batteries on the drivers side seemed to be the cause. I sequentially took the positive lead off the passenger battery and the hood light stayed on. Hooked that back up and pulled the battery lead on the drivers side and poof, no power. The bolted connection of the cable from the passenger battery that bolts onto the drivers battery was corroded and needed cleaning. I took some time and cleaned out all the connections and put it back together and it seems to have fixed it.
The stupid thing is that the charge circuit feeds the passenger battery but senses voltage off the drivers side system. The codes I read off my Smarty were for high field voltage for the alternator and high charge voltage.
Hope this helps..
