Default Sprinter Turbo question

A friend of mine has a 2006 sprinter 3500 that has been having turbo problems His 3rd turbo is about to go out. Need suggestions for replacement turbos that wont crap out 80k. He says that there is oil in the turbo so that means its getting ready to go. Dont know where to put this post so thanks for all the info.

The 2.7 CDI in his Sprinter is a car engine, not a Cummins.
Change the oil every 5k miles and don't floor the throttle everywhere you go.

X2
A Sprinter huh? Bet your buddy's bank account hates him too.Tell him to use a real soft touch on the throttle and step up his oil change schedule. Or trade it in on a real vanhaha

Seriously though, if he doesn't already have them, he should get some gauges, at least EGT and Boost. Keep them both reading in the low end to reduce wear and tear. Then maintain it like a religious zealot.

For better or worse, I see a lot of these things on the road, maybe they could get a section beside the BMWs and Jeep Liberties. Sure plenty of owners are looking for durability enhancements.

I'd like to see that. Haven't seen too many of them up close, but the stock engine seems to be crammed in there pretty tight. From what I've read, the stock engines aren't very powerful, I was thinking that a 4bt might be an appropriate improvement.

The stock engine is derated from 170hp to 154hp to increase its lifespan.
