There is deffinetly something else wrong in this rig. I'd be very suspect of some sever blowby somewhere causing the vent to blow EXCESSIVE oil into the intake, which would clog your DPF faster causeing it to regen more, and if the problem is in #4 the situation would be severly exasperated.
Anyone know if it stuck in regen or if the valve stuck open could that happen?
Think you just need to start chasing all the possibilities that could cause that.
Maybe look at getting a FULL scan to see every code on the computer ever registered and when they were cleared, if it was cleared right b-4 you bought it you may have a lawsuit. If the dealer was the one constantly clearing them you may have a claim for warranty issues.
Best of luck and let us know when you find the cause of that. I looked at my grid heater when i did my fuel rail but it was just dirty with soot, nothing like that thing.

Holy cow!

Guess I need to keep an eye on mine now .... at the first sign of DPF/BlueTec failure I'll have the dealer fix it under warranty and turn right around and buy a Smarty to do the deletes and the EGR delete.

If you only had it 3 days why are you tearing into it yourself?! That'll look kinda suspect to the dealer IMO I would dragged that thing back and said i want my money back.

I bought it at an auction as an inoperable truck so I could fix it and sell it at a profit
