I as well am not saying that VG Turbos are A bad thing necessarily. I am just saying that in the spirit of the guys original question of trying to go to one cheap by picking one from A wrecker off of A 6.7 To put on his 5.9.. #1 is not going to be as cheap as he may have originally thought. #2 For the money he is going to spend the gains will be minimal for the over all cost. And if your going to spend the money then there are better options that will provide greater gains for less money.. See the suggestions above for A good list. That's it that's all..

Thats not very quick and a VGT is able to start at 10psi or more under those conditions. They can even make full boost during deceleration!

Oh ok well my VGT under the same conditions made no to 1-2 psi of boost cruising depending on terrain. what I am doing here is comparing from 0-40ish psi of boost the bullet boost just as fast as it did ask any of the other 6.7 guys here they will tell you that this turbo spools just as fast as the stocker and the stock turbo didnt get me to 600hp when you can hack the ecm on 6.7s and change the turbo map let me know I can get you alot of business

i have a 2012 vgt turbo from a 6.7 on my 86 ford that has a 95 12 valve. it is the best upgrade i have done to it. i have tried various ways to control it and i have found a cable to operate it worked best for me. the instant spool up and the exaust brake is great. and the added mpg on the free way when the vanes are open is great. also pulling hills the egts to be lower
