auto or manual Dodge???
I'm looking for advice on what would be best for my applicaiton. I have a 5.9l 07 with the 48re auto, I haul 35foot gooseneck all the time gvw 15000 lbs. I'am not happy with the auto trans when I'm pulling right now( I think the bands need to be ajusted). Here's what I'm looking at, 07.5 and up 3500 dually just need help with the transmission decision. Any help would be appreciated Thanks.

Manual is always going to be best for serious towing with a good driver. But by how much? Compared to the 68RFE, probably not that much. If I was getting a 6.7 I'd go with the RFE, no question. I'd give almost anything to have that gearbox on my 5.9 instead of the 48RE. Only reason I went with the 48RE is because it's the wifey's backup vehicle/mall crawler.

I have an '08 Keystone Energy toyhauler. The tag says it's dry weight (no potable/gray/black water, no fuel in 40 gal tank) is 6700 pounds, and max loaded is 9700.
Towed it dry with my '03 3500 SRW QCSB SO 5.9 auto, and topped out around 52 MPH.
Towed it dry with my '08 3500 SRW QC long bed 6.7 manual, and was still climbing at 75 MPH.
Needless to say, I'm glad I traded in the '03 for the '08. It's like night and day when I'm towing my RV.
