I was thinking of putting cab lights on my truck and i was wondering for an 08 2500 would their already be a harness up their or no and if not would it be ok to run a harness down to the light switch and just tab in. Any info would be great

I doubt there is any wiring above youre headliner. If you buy the cab lights from Recon they include the bases and wiring. When I put cab lights on my 95 chevy I ran the wire down to the headlight switch but on your truck with a tipm I wouldnt recomend it. I would put them on a toggle switch off the battery.

I was wonderin about that myself. I was over on towrig.com and some guy said he hooked up some chicken lights and HID headlights on his '07 Dodge and it killed his "TIPM" and cost him about a grand and a week of down time. I'm pretty curious about this, what is it, how does it work and why do they use it?

I just installed the Recon kit in my 08. I did not have a wire harness in the truck. It is a 3500 that had the clearance light delete option, so I thought maybe that ment no lights, but a harness was there. Well no harness, but the Recon kit included a cool harness.

The headliner is simple in thier instuctions, just be very careful not to snag it with an elbow and pull it too low while your working under it or it will crack the fiber board stuff in the rear portion, which I did, but it goes away once the liner fabric settles out.

When you remove the passenger side pillar there is a plug towards the bottom. On the 08 there is a grey wire white strip...(if I recall correctly) that I spliced into that lets your cab lights work with the factory light switch, as soon as you turn on the parking lights. Double check with a fluke on the pins but be very careful not to touch more than one pin at a time or you will blow fuse number 14 or 16, its a blue 15 amp I think...its either right side park lights or left side. My tester touched two pins at once, which was very easy to do with the assistance of Mr. Beam, but I found the wire and bought a new fuse.

The light from Recon are bright, very impressed, and cheap from 4 wheel parts. Way cheaper then Recons website...some how.

Use Silicon for sealant, RTV has a vinger like acid base that will/could over time eat away at the wholes you drill in the cab...or so I was told???

Other then that it was simple. Be easy pulling off the overhead display, the tabs are junk in the plastic, and mine are loose now a rattle a little. Pull straight down, it looks like it wants to pull foward cause it leans that way, but straight towards the center bench or dash, avoid towards the window.

Any Q's on the 08 install, let me know, I just did it last week.

Mike

Best bet is to pull the pass side pillar dow and look my 07 2500 was a deleted truck and I puchased the mopar kit and there is a unused plug behind the pillar with like 4 or 5 wires in it one of them is for the cab lights. Two screws to find out for sure.
