Its funny you say that;
I was talking to a few techs that work at the local dealership. They said a woman came in with a truck for some maintenance like brakes or something. They put their wireless OBD controller on there and went to scan the computer and it just fried.
They then tried again with another obd reader and it also fried.
After further inspection the woman had moved her obd up under the dash out of access and placed a "fake/dummy" port where the old one would be located. She then had an inverter and rectifier setup off the battery to step up the DC voltage with a transformer to something like 100v and fed it to every connection on the dummy OBD port.
They are pursuing litigation against the lady and her defense is you dont need my ECM to change the brakes nor were you authorized to do so.
We shall see what happens.

That's an intresting idea. Definately something I would do if I were going to bring the truck in for any kind of work like that.
Bad part is..... I will do all that type of work myself... brakes are brakes, tranny fluid swap is a fluid swap, etc.etc. That stuff is the same for anything really.
The damn computer in the truck, that's a different deal.
Maybe just take the port, unhook it and hide it with a lock on it.... and just put a dummy one there that has nothing hooked up. At least that way you're not blowing the tech's stuff up.
