Default thinking about upgrading

I'm kicking around the idea of trading off the 6.0 before it craps out on and I'm looking at the brand new 2014 Cummins just wanted to hear some opinions

Buying a new truck or swapping engines? I hear the new cummins are VERY nice. $65k, no? I'm looking at swapping my nice built 6.0l for a freshly rebuilt 2004 5.9L CR. I don't have that cash lying around. Sorry, but all I have to offer is the reviews I have read about the new cummins.

Have you had any issues with your 6.0L?

So far so good I'm just not sure if I want to invest all that money into trying to fix it before it breaks and hope for the best I have thought about just saving all money and getting a 12v to drop in it

Just be careful with it. There are lot of fixes, but just watch it and it should be fine. If it is stock and you haven't had any issues, you will likely NOT have any. Start tuning it and stuff, and then the potential issues can show themselves.

The Cummins 12V is a good motor, but will be a dog in the 9000# F350. I decided against going the way of the 5.9L Cummins, and just save the $25k for the swap and get a new truck in 5-10 years. I think if I'm careful, I may get that out of my highly modified 6.0L.

I would save the money and go for a new used truck, that way you get a good truck for the best price. The new Cummins or Fords are still ~$65k. Nice trucks.

I will offer up thought's because I have been in your shoes. I had a 6.0L as well mine was getting to the point were I was starting to put a fair bit of money into it. One day I woke up to go out and fix my truck so I could go and make a living. And said enough is enough.I was going to drop a common rail cummins in it but they after looking into the price quickly gave that idea up.

2 years of owning a 6.0L I bought it for $25,000 had a 100,000k on it spent right around 7,000 in parts. Traded it off for $9,000 because no one wants them. It had a 130,000k looked the same as when I bought it.

1.5 years of owning a 6.7 cummins . Bought it for $38,000 had 85,000 k on it . Parts$000,000 and will never trade it off I LOVE IT. That coming from a guy that up in till the ram all I drove was Ford.

Yup that's what scares me about the 6.0 and I'm getting to the point where I don't have the time to work on a vehicle to get it where I want and I would just as soon buy one I don't have to throw a pile of money into to make it perform how I want it to
