Default Sensors on the air filter box

Hi, I have a 2007.5 6.7 cummins and I'm kinda new to this engine I had a 99 before, my question was what exactly are the sensors on the air filter box. I wanted to put my own filter on but to do so I would have to unplug them sensors, can I do that or will it throw codes? Thanks!

I think it is the turbo air inlet temperature(AIT) sensor. It will throw a code and put you in limp mode if disconnected. You can run your own filter, just make sure to keep the sensor and locate it near the inlet of your custom filter.
