if it were me could just afford one or the other i would unbolt the exhaust and dump it till i could afford exhaust. and buy the tuner. hell find a stock system from a common rail 5.9 and run that till you can get actual exhaust. if you dump it ya your underside will be blacked out but nothing a powerwasher wont take off.

I have the exhaust in a box ready to go on, but I am waiting on the tuner which should be here on Tuesday. What I am asking is if I can tune it with the stock exhaust installed and assuming the DPF is full.

You will compound your plugged DPF problem adding tuning

Exactly ditch the dpf before you tune it.

Oh i understandnow dont run any dpf delete tune with your dpf in place like said above. Your problems will just get bigger

I think so...when I tuned it to Smarty stock the instructions in the manual didn't match what actually appeared on the tuner. But, I was able to load a stock program from Smarty, After that, I removed my exhaust up to the cat. A few funny things though, after I tuned it with the factory exhaust installed the check eng. light was not displayed on the dash. After I removed the exhaust from the cat back the check engine light came back after restarting th engine. The other funny thing is that the inside of the DPF was bored out/empty....just like I thought earlier. Someone removed the insides unless all DPF's look like that, but I don't think so ...so anyway the truck runs a lot better now.

Also, the tuner isn't acting like the VIN is locked so it's not giving me the option to calibrate the ABS to the tire size. I may give the supplier a call tomorrow.

Now, I need to remove exhaust from the turbo back and install my MBRP ... my plan is to work on that this weekend. Any pointers?

Start st the back and work towards the engine for removing old exhaust.

I removed the exhaust up to the cat and the truck ran better but seems to cruise at a really high gear. Then last night after driving it for about 15 minutes the engine chugged (sounds like it was trying to stall) then it sounded like the turbo was spooling. The truck seems like it has less power now.

I am going to try and reload the Smarty stock program again to see if for some reason it didn't take.

I didn't realize that the stock program on the Smarty is my stock program that was saved ...so I went back and loaded the 1. program - fuel mileage, and no problems. The check engine light went out and no strange turbo sounds.

I have the H & S EGR/Cooler delete and I have just unplugged the EGR. Someone told me to unplug the intake horn to keep the throttle valve open. Should I do this before I drive it again or is this an optional delete?
