Default exhaust brake

i have an 08 dodge 2500. my co worker had recently told me that i should put an aftermarket exhaust to save my mpgs. im a "if it aint broke dont touch it" kinda guy. but i went ahead and took his advice and got the diamond eye 5 inch turbo back. today as i was exiting a free way i used the exhaust brake and it was pretty loud. and very good stopping power. but as i completely stopped the exhaust brake sounded like it was still on. the i put it in park, and still it sounded like just air. im not sure what it could be but its sounds like the exhaust brake it stuck closed or something. im not sure. please any advice is appreciated. thanks guys.

I have a 2007 6.7 and just did the 5" turbo back and had a similar experience, I think the exhaust brake is just louder now (even in park) without all the filters etc.

No worries you are fine. The exhaust brake is nothing more than the vanes (nozzles) closing down. So when you are at idle or low speeds it is the same as if the exhaust brake was activated, you can just hear it now.
