Default Dealer Service with Tuner

The truck is out of warranty and you break down on the road. You have the dpf deleted and a tuner. Will the dealer work on the truck in this situation?

As I stated the truck is out of warranty so I would expect to pay. So you're saying that the truck would be serviced even though the DPF is absent? Does the tuner have to be plugged in all the time or can it do its reprogramming and then be disconnected?

The 3 dealers closest to me won't even touch my truck with the tuner in it. I have to remove it from the truck. One dealer charged me 85 bucks just to look at it and tell me they wouldn't work on it with the tuner installed. I just found a good diesel mechanic and he works on it now. Mine is still under warranty but I just told Ford to shove it.

I am concerned about being out on the road with a breakdown. No way would I reinstall a DPF on the side of the road. This is a deal breaker for anyone thinking about using a tuner as far as I'm concerned. I too know of a good diesel shop in my home town...but on the road a Ford dealer would be my only tow to destination. Thanks for your input.

Double edge sword, I could see the dealership not wanting to touch the truck because of the mods since this is federal law. In some states they can't work on the vehicle without having to report or correct the situation and if they dont they can be fined.
