Default 500 HP Help!

I have been doing my homework on DPF delete kits, from what I can tell is that they are easy to instal and if need be, you could put the DPF back on for inspections. I am also looking into putting in a new down pipe and stright pipe all the way back. From what I can tell is that 5 inch would be the best size but have not been able to find 5 inch out there ready to buy and ship. I was looking at MBRP for downpipes and they have not released one for my truck yet...but soon they say and it will only be a 4 inch.

Also it seems that with a DPF delete kit you have to put in a tuner, was looking at Spartan tuner and have heard its a good one. At first I thought the Edge CTS would be the best but from what I read the Spartan is better. Was trying to get your input on these areas.

In addition to the DPF Delete, downpipe and tuner, I am looking at a cool/cold air intake (not a clue on a good brand) and air fuel partical seperator such as the Air Dog. I am shooting for 500hp mark but would like to stay under a $3.5k budget. Was trying to get your input on these areas. Thanks

My Signature will not allow me to add a pic, or I would add one of my truck.

Sparton is very popular on several web sites. I went with the Mini Maxx from H&S Performance. I do not race my truck, was just looking for better peformance and to get rid of the dpf.

I put on a 4 inch flo pro ss exhaust from the down pipe back, a s&b intake and the mini maxx. The performance is great and you can shift between tunes without having to reload a tune. H&S advertises 250 hp on the hot tune, I have not dynoed the truck but it runs great. So far I have averaged about 14.5 mpg (hand calculated) which is half city and half highway and is about the same as the pre-tune mpg. I find myself driving the truck a little harder than I used to, love the performance.

I bought my set up from First Coast Diesel Performance, a local shop for a little over $1800.

Have looked into all this deeply and here is what I am going to do as soon I get back from Iraq;
Spartan tuner w/ the HP upgrades and TCM
Go to my local shop and have them run 5 inch from frot to back
Add Air Scoop Intake Kit from BD Diesel
2 inch Leveling Kit
33 Inch MT tires
That will start me out, later on I think I will look into duel turbo's and upgraded cooling system.

I like Truck Source Diesel. I've spoken with Chris extensively about the 6.4 tuning, and he really seems to know what's up. Good deals too!

Got to back you up on that. personally those guys are my go to guys when it comes to Strokers. They have personally owned, tuned, and raced all of the engines and I have always been impressed with the way their tuning runs. When a customer of mine wants something for a PS I call them and say send me some tunes. The 6.4 that they have down there is a pretty impressive running truck and if you go with them for tuning I am sure that you wont be disappointed. On top of that Chris is a good guy too , hes always willing to help you achieve what you want. I have known him and been friends with him and the other owner (Chris as well) since we were in college. In fact the build on my truck started at their shop.

hmm, I am stationed in El Paso, so when I get back to the U.S. I might just have to drive down there and take a look.

its pretty easy to get a 6.4 over the 500hp mark with a few simple upgrades, I would go with the black maxx or mini maxx mentioned above, they also have tcm tuning included with there tuners that you can get also, i would give h&s performance a call and get a package deal thru them. The last 2 dyno events I have been out, a 6.4 has one the stock class and they were both over 500hp, with just programmer, intake, and exhaust with the dpf deletes. If you have not checked out what h&s is doing with the black maxx you might want to also, they have it set up and are testing water meth and nitrous setups that they can control with the black maxx, plus the tcm tuning and more.

The Black Maxx is nice to, I originally thought that I had to drill and tap to get EGT but it looks like that is only with chevy and dodge. They are around the same price range. Several people here are running the Black Maxx with positive results, anyone running the Spartan? Would like any input from someone who has owned or owns a spartan.

I thought that the DPF delete, tuner and air filter was supposed to raise your MPG as long as you didnt have a heavy foot, the arguement all these sites make is that the engine does not have to work as hard there for saving you money, yet you say you have the same MPG. Only reason I mention this is B/C this was a big selling point to my wife to let me spend 3k on this, and she will be checking knowing her!!

I was hoping for 15 mpg or better. When my truck was stock I was really easy on it, trying to get good mileage. With the tuner I find myself driving the truck harder than I used to. It is hard to resist the extra horsepower. I have had the tune about a month, I have been logging my mileage and which tune I am using. When I have some usefull data I will post it. My truck drives much better with the tune and in 5k miles I will find out if it has eliminated the fuel mixed with the oil. Each oil change has averaged 2.5% fuel in the oil.
