Th350 behind 6.2
Is there anyway to put a TH350 behind a 6.2? Ive got a 73 Th350 and Np203 given to me out of a 73 K5 that had a 350 gasser thats seized and was wondering if i could run a 6.2 with it. Its gonna be used in a off road only truck so milage doesnt bother me. Thanks Dave
I actually have a 6.2 with a th350 behind it and it works pretty good,it is hard to get to shift on its own,I had to adjust the modualter alot till it shifted on its own, really strong and actually I still get like 20 to the gallon so even if u did take it on the raod as a dail driver or somthing u'd be doin pretty good
What torque converter would i have to use in the th350? Would one work out of a th400? I would probly be shifting it manually anyways so shifting on its own wont be too much of a big deal.

They had roughly 130 to 140 ft lbs of torque. We used to have one in a 2wd suburban and beat the daylights out of it and we sold it at 400k miles on it and the new owner is still driving it. wish we woulda kept it.

sorry to kinda jack your thread but would a 6.2 get better milage not using od because i've got a k5 w/ 6.2 & 700r4 and i now get like 12ish. or is it just because im tryin to push a 4400 pound vehicle down the road at 70 mphs with 35s and 3.73 gears? because i drove the same amount of miles to a different place and got 20 mpgs
I'm not sure about tourqe converters, the guy who I bought the truck from just put the th350 one in there and it works pretty decent,it won't do a burnout on dry tar,but ofcourse the only 6.2 diesel I haave seen do that are ones with bad back breaks or manuals in them,I'd say just go with a low stall tourqe converter and such and it should work great

and yea my truck got better mileage with the 700r4 in it,it generally got 25 to the gallon and that was with a really really shitty 700r4,now with the turbo 350 I getlike 20 on the highway,I'd defnatley say ur tires are like serious power robbers, like drivein through a sand pit with a fully loaded bobcat trailer or somthing

but if you got the choice go for a turbo 400. no replacement for the strength they got. putting a turbo 350 behind a high torque and big wheeled 6.2 is like putting a 4L65E behind a 6.5 turbo in a 3/4 ton truck. it might work but your at its limit.
