Default 95 6.5 2500 vs 91.5 5.9 Cummins 250?

Okay so me and my friend had a pull-off and somehow i won? I Agreed to it expecting to lose, Well I ended up pulling his a good 10ft before they called it.
mine is a 95 6.5 diesel, reg cab, longbed, 2wd, open diff, NV4500 5 Spd, 4.10 gears and 33's.
His is a 91.5 Dodge cummins 250, reg cab, longbed, Auto, 2wd, Don't know the gears.
I thought the cummins being heavier and having more power(supposedly) would win? This was on pavement not on dirt or anything. I guess what i'm asking is i thought they were supposed to have much more power and be tougher than a 6.5?

Clutch put more power to the ground. Early Dodge slushboxes are notoriously inefficient. Were he driving a stick, the outcome might well have been different.

Yeah i can understand that. i was in low and pulling him slowly, once i started moving him he couldn't do anything but spin though.

If his and yours are sitting stock still he doesn't have the power you have.

Truck pulling against truck really doesn't prove much. If you are hooked up higher then him your truck will pull his off the ground giving him less traction and you more.

I watched a 6.0 gas stock chevy drag a turned up 12v cummins.

tire traction, weight, and the ability to spin tires

in tug a truck thats what you need to win if those 33s you have are a good soft tire that gets sticky and hot then that could be a reason you won

Hmmm well they're Bf goodrich a/t's 33x12.5 and he's got smaller very mild a/t's so mine sits a good 2-3 inches higher in the rear.

So depending how you hooked, maybe it wasn't even a fair pull.

you won for no other reason than gear ratios. his 91 auto is a 3 speed to my knowledge. has about the widest rear end ratio you can imagine. it's less than 3 I think. your 4.10 truck won for good reason in this case.
