95 6.5 2500 vs 91.5 5.9 Cummins 250?

Okay so me and my friend had a pull-off and somehow i won? I Agreed to it expecting to lose, Well I ended up pulling his a good 10ft before they called it.
mine is a 95 6.5 diesel, reg cab, longbed, 2wd, open diff, NV4500 5 Spd, 4.10 gears and 33's.
His is a 91.5 Dodge cummins 250, reg cab, longbed, Auto, 2wd, Don't know the gears.
I thought the cummins being heavier and having more power(supposedly) would win? This was on pavement not on dirt or anything. I guess what i'm asking is i thought they were supposed to have much more power and be tougher than a 6.5?

Actually the 6.5 td has as Mach power as a 5.9 cummins
