Default Xtreme x tune

I'm new to the diesel world and received my sct tuner earlier in the week! I promptly was ordering two tunes from innovative! I received the xtreme street and xtreme x files. I was amazed by the immediate service from them and pleasant to deal with.
So now to my next questions
On the xtreme x file when I punch it off the line I can literally count to three watch the boost build to 17 and it then launchs. It almost feels like a line lock is on.
But it does not break the tires free and during that 3 seconds you cannot see anything behind me from the huge plum building.
It is fun through all the gears but is this launch normal?

On the street tune it does not have as much of a delayed launch. And smokes less, but if I blip or roll the throttle at all it smokes out the road as well.

Stock file did not hesitate from taking off the line. It did smoke if I operated the throttle the same as above.

Is there something possibly wrong on my end? Eric has written to me and is going to work out next week. But I want to make sure it is nothing on my end before he goes through any unessisary efforts.

I have checked all boots, load tested the vehicle in the driveway and felt the y pipes, no bsoot on the fire wall.

Other than the visual checks, and ensuring clamps are tight, what tricks do you have for ensuring no leaks
Thanks in advance

Mine from matt@ gearhead is the same way. If you punch it off a dead stop it will pour smoke until the turbo builds boost. Then it takes off like a rocket. But I have gotten used to going 1/3 way down on the pedal on take offs for a second or two. Then wot. But it will light up my tires with ease anytime I lay on it.

You'll learn how to drive it. Sounds normal, except.... 17psi is the max you see under WOT? Should be higher than that.

They're pretty laggy if you just mat it, it's quicker to roll into it and let the boost build up. If you mat it, it's just pouring fuel and the turbo has to work harder to catch up.

The street tune is an awesome tune, virtually no smoke, decent power and the best take off of all the tunes I've used.

Shouldn't both tunes break the tires loose though?

Sounds bad to me. If it takes till 17PSI to move you got problems.

Sorry for the delay in replies guys, I have been gone fishin

The truck boosts to 30 psi. My comment of if I floor it from a dead stop it will not start moving the vehicle untill 17 psi and smokes out the intersection.

Rolling into it does seem best to wot. But it still does not break the tires loose like driving on ice as some speak of.

I have done visual checks for exhaust leaks and found none. Maybe the turbo just isn't happy with the unknown larger injectors.

I have ordered a new turbo from mtw which may assist in the adventure

Yeah I just re-read your original post and see in your sig that you have 175cc injectors (maybe) and a stock turbo??? Did you tell the tuners you have the larger injectors? That's pretty vital info for your tune writer.

You should still be able to roast those tires without issue with those sticks and tuning. I can do it with stock injectors...

I have mentioned all of My specs for the written tune, He even tried revising it and tried changing stratagies. I am stuck thinking there has to be a hidden leak somewhere in the system. I have tried putting it in 3rd gear and loading it up whicle checking for smoke! but there are no signs anywhere nor any markings on the firewall! The boots have been taken off cleaned and there is no signs of cracking!

I read somewhere once of an air test that can be performed with a pvc cap and pressurizing but havent done a search again to find it..

As wel
I need to pull the intake and check the plastic intercooler tube to see if a crack is there..
shouldnt I be able to hear a whistle or a whoosh sound if there is a leak?

Yeah when my intercooler tube cracked it got really loud around 7psi and louder from there.

It's possible you have stock injectors too... who knows.

Do you monitor fuel pressure?

How would you describe the loud sound? Sorry if this sounds funny

The injectors were "upgraded" prior to me purchasing the the truck but he didn't know much about what was installed in a technical sense.
Even on stock settings they fuel really hard and are smoky when on the throttle. Could this be an underlying problem?
Worst case I could pull them out and send this in for flow testing and balancing. But I'm not quite ready for that approach yet. As I probably would have them rebuilt and change the sizing if I'm that far in.

I purchased the eas fuel pressure kit for my edge. But the fuel sending unit is not reading. I need to pick up another sending unit when can get a chance to go to the city.
I'm also researching doing a regulated return and upgrading the fuel system from stock.
Just awaiting a few quotes from some of the vendors on other boards

What would your ideal set up be for sump, pump, filtration ?
