Got the new motor and it is installed. Ended up buying a 07 tranny also and having it installed. Motor is very strong but tranny does not seem to know what to do. These were supposed to be paired on last vehicle but the transmission does not seem to know what gear it wants to be in. I have tried putting the stock program back in, Superchips program, and Banks 6 gun. Nothing helps the shifting issue. Technician told me to have dealer reflash with updated 04 program and should fix it. This does not seem to me like it will help because changing these tunes has had no affect on the problem. Engine is 06 transmission is 07, truck an 04, anybody have any ideas or thoughts on weather the reflash will work. As soon as you get into the throttle it will shift out of gear, shift up, shift down, hammer back in, so forth and so on. Come to a stop and it may try to start in 3rd or 4th gear.

 

Well your superchips and banks don't do squat for the trans, so if you're having issues with it on stock tuning, those things are just going to make it worse.

The trans needs to go through a learning phase as well. However it sounds like you've got more serious issues. I would call up Doug @ GoGo and talk to him about it. Just google his info. The trannies are the same across the years, that shouldn't be an issue.

 

Your trans sounds about as bad as the one I just replaced. It shifted erratically, it didn't like the power, took about 4 cycles from 1st-6th to shift properly. The rebuilt unit recently installed does NONE of those, firm shifts, no 3-5 flare, and shifted properly as soon as I loaded my SRL tune.
